Highlighting LGBTQIA+ Design Influencers: Keith Haring
Design that creates a connection with the viewer is inspiring to us, because we are all about building relationships through our work. Keith Haring was a New York-based LGBTQIA+ artist whose use of rhythmic lines and patterns intrigued viewers. By seeing Haring’s work in public spaces, residents of New York and visitors to the city could engage with his work easily on their commutes.
We admire Haring’s unique, graffiti-like designs that doubled as calls for social activism. Because his work made people stop and look, it served as a way to increase community awareness about AIDS, LGBTQIA+ rights, apartheid in South Africa and more.
