OMAHA HEALTHY KIDS ALLIANCE
E Creative was invited to collaborate with Omaha Lead Registry and Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance (OHKA) on a Lead Awareness campaign targeting designated ZIP codes. This bilingual campaign was necessary to create awareness about the importance of lead safety in Omaha, especially for those living in or owning property in the Omaha Lead Super Fund area.

WHERE WE STARTED
Compelling residents, property investors and community partners within the defined area to confirm that their properties were lead-safe by visiting the Omaha Lead Registry was the focus of our collaboration. To engage the audiences, E Creative developed a theme, creative concept and a multi-platform communications strategy that incorporated a hands-on, active look and feel to the messaging and visuals that combined natural, earthy hues with friendly typography.

WHAT WE DID TOGETHER
The theme for the campaign was “Dig Into Lead Safety.” It played on how lead assessors dig in the earth to test for lead in a property’s soil as well as the importance for residents and property owners to learn more about lead abatement for their properties. The campaign was delivered to audiences through mailings, digital media, outdoor media and a public relations campaign kick -off. With action-oriented and empowering messaging, encouraged people to: learn more about lead safety and lead-safe homes by visiting OmahaLead.org.

THE IMPACT IT MADE
According to the Lead Activity Summary on the Omaha Lead Registry’s website, there was a drastic decline in activity starting in October of 2020. After launching the campaign in March of 2021, the activity significantly increased and continued to do so throughout the campaign. We were able to achieve a major goal for this campaign: increase traffic to the Lead Registry website.

“E Creative not only understood everyone’s unique perspective and priorities, but they also understood what messaging and imagery would be most effective for our audience.”

Shelby Larson, Manager of Community Engagement

ALL THE FEELS
The dedication that OHKA and the City of Omaha have to keep neighborhoods safe while providing accessible resources that keep Omahans informed was evident in throughout our collaboration. They were passionate about connecting with people in more than one language which was something we could really get behind. Together, by delivering a bilingual campaign, we know that more homes are now safer for the families living in them.
